Exam day
information
What will we do
on exam day?
- Look at all the work in our portfolios
and evaluate the skills and creativity weÕve developed this semester.
- Answer a series of questions (written
or drawn) about the topics weÕve discussed during the semester including goals
and techniques of these artists and styles/movements of art: Egyptian tomb
art and hieroglyphics, Renaissance (Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo), Chinese
ink wash, impressionism (Monet, Manet, Degas), Japanese woodblock printing
and its influence on impressionists, different styles in
post-impressionism (Seurat, Van Gogh), fauvism (Matisse), cubism (Picasso,
Braque), surrealism (Miro, Chagall, Dali, Magritte), abstract
expressionism (Pollack, deKooning, Kline, Still)
- Clean out portfolios and take work
home.
- Clean the classroom.
How should we
prepare?
- Look at any handouts and written
assignments you have kept from the year. Look at these terms and concepts:
(hieroglyphics, depiction of human form in Egyptian art, 4
breakthroughs of Renaissance art, principles of Chinese painting [landscape,
bird and flower], chiaroscuro, Mona Lisa, Pieta, Sistine chapel,
pointillism)
- If youÕve lost some of them, use the
books in the classroom to explore these concepts or do web searches at
home.
- About one hour of preparation should
be plenty.
- IF YOU OWN THE MONA LISA
BOOK, PLEASE BRING IT TO THE FINAL
How will this
count toward our grade?
These
activities will be assessed and recorded in the "CONTENT KNOWLEDGE"
category, which accounts for 25% of the total grade.
